Reyes’ three goals lead Rangers’ soccer
Hamburg. Wallkill Valley teams shined as Ivan Reyes’ hat trick led boys soccer, Alanna Romeo scored for girls soccer, Lexi Cammarata paced field hockey, and Haley Murphy and Patrick Maloney led cross country efforts.
Ivan Reyes totaled three goals and an assist and Gavin Walker also scored to pace the Wallkill Valley High boys soccer team to a 4-1 victory over North Warren on Oct. 23 in Hamburg.
The hat trick was the first this season for Reyes, a senior forward, who now has five goals and five assists this season.
Dennis Aungst, Kooper Nicolai and Aaron Eichler each had an assist with goalies Cayden Collins (two saves) and Noah Gyarmati (four saves) combining to aid the defense.
Wallkill Valley (11-7) began the week with a 5-0 win over Jefferson on Oct. 22 in Oak Ridge led by Nicolai, who had two goals and an assist, Miguel McCallum, who also scored twice and Walker, who added a goal.
Collins (five saves) and Gyarmati (two saves) combined to post the Rangers’ fourth shutout this season.
Nicolai, a senior, now has 16 goals and eight assists to lead the team in scoring this season.
Girls soccer
Alanna Romeo booted home a pass from Chloe Geuther in the first half to lift Wallkill Valley to a 1-0 victory over Veritas Christian on Oct. 24 in Hamburg,
The win was the second straight for the Lady Rangers, who edged Jefferson, 3-2, on Oct. 21 at home.
Jordyn Trinkleback had two goals and an assist with Jules Capriglione adding a goal and Romeo and Makala Dammers each tallying an assist.
Harley Ojeda made seven saves in goal for Wallkill Valley, who is now 4-11-1.
Field hockey
Lexi Cammarata has totaled eight goals and four assists to lead the Lady Rangers’ offense this season.
Wallkill Valley (4-12) was scheduled to play at High Point on Oct. 29 at 4 p.m.
Cross country
Haley Murphy was the lone Wallkill Valley girls participant and clocked a time of 21:13.30 and placed 12th at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Championships on Oct. 23 in Phillipsburg.
On the boys side, the Rangers were led by Patrick Maloney, who was 31st in a time of 19:10.10, and followed by Zachary Neiper, who was 32nd in 19:12.70.
Other boys place-winners include Samuel Tobachnick (50th place in 20:28.70), Jackson Saltzman (54th in 20:37.50), Michael Gibson (65th in 21:37.60), Daniel DeFinis (81st in 23:07.90) and Tristan Kelly (105th in 26:29.60).
