Hardyston Safety Town teaches children essential safety skills
Hardyston. Hardyston Township’s annual Safety Town program is giving children hands-on lessons in a variety of safety topics during the week of Aug. 3.

Children are learning important safety skills during Hardyston Township’s annual Safety Town program, held the week of Aug. 3 at the Wheatsworth Park pavilion.
Sponsored by the Hardyston Township Recreation Department, the program is partially funded through an opioid settlement grant awarded to the Wallkill Valley Municipal Alliance.
Participants are divided into small groups led by eight teen volunteers, who guide the children through a schedule of activities and demonstrations throughout the week.
The program includes lessons on bus safety, bear safety, bicycle safety, water safety and fire safety, along with other topics designed to help children recognize and respond to everyday safety situations.
