SCCC to host 25th anniversary 9/11 remembrance ceremony
Newton. Sussex County Community College and PBA 138 will host a 9/11 remembrance ceremony Sept. 11 featuring local first responders, a wreath-laying ceremony and performances honoring those who died in the attacks.

Sussex County Community College and PBA 138 will host a 25th anniversary 9/11 remembrance ceremony at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 11, at the college’s 9/11 Memorial on Connor Green.
The ceremony will commemorate the nearly 3,000 people who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and honor the first responders who responded to the attacks.
Members of the college and surrounding community are expected to attend, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical services personnel, veterans, students, faculty, staff and area residents.
The Newton High School Choir will perform the national anthem, followed by welcoming remarks from SCCC President Dr. Cory Homer.
Col. Dave Melendez Jr. of the New York City Fire Department and Army National Guard will serve as the guest speaker and reflect on the events of Sept. 11, 2001.
A wreath-laying ceremony will honor those who lost their lives in the attacks, as well as the first responders who served during the aftermath. The ceremony will conclude with Taps, performed by Bugles Across America.
SCCC is inviting members of the community to attend the ceremony and gather in remembrance and unity.
