Greet the new year with live music

SUSSEX COUNTY. Groups to play Grateful Dead and Rage Against the Machine hits on local stages Saturday.

An electrifying lineup of live music events promise to start your new year right.

Friday, Dec. 29

E-Squared will deliver a unique blend of covers and originals that span the musical spectrum from Smokey Robinson to Maggie Rogers starting at 6:30 p.m. at Krogh’s Restaurant & Brew Pub, 23 White Deer Plaza, Sparta.

Part-Time Custodian will host its EP release party, offering an energetic performance at the Stanhope House, 45 Main St., starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.

The Poor Horseman offers a nostalgic trip through Sussex County’s country music history at 7 p.m. at McQ’s Pub at Lake Lenape, 165 Andover Sparta Road, Newton.

The Foster Children will captivate the audience with a night of fun tunes starting at 8 p.m. at Brick & Brew, 27 Route 23, Franklin.

At 9 p.m., end your Friday by stepping into the limelight for a night of karaoke at O’Reilly’s Pub and Grill, 271 Spring St., Newton.

Saturday, Dec. 30

Enjoy your afternoon starting at 4 p.m. at Angry Erik Brewing, 2 Camre Drive, Newton, where Brian McLoughlin will enchant the audience with his acoustic rock tunes.

DnA will take the stage at 6 p.m. at Mountain House Tavern & Grill, 19 Route 206, Branchville, offering a fusion of indie pop and singer-songwriting tunes.

The Glenwood, 2 Vernon Crossing Road, Vernon, welcomes back Chris Reali at 6:30 p.m. performing acoustic Americana.

Celebrate the music and community of the Grateful Dead with Diamond Eye Jack bringing the essence of the ‘70s-era Dead to life at 7 p.m. at Milk Street Distillery, 1 Milk St., Branchville.

Know Your Enemy, a Rage Against the Machine tribute band, will rock the house at 7 p.m. at the Stanhope House. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.

Stage Freight takes the stage for a fun night of captivating melodies at 8 p.m. at Brick & Brew.

At 9 p.m. Jeiris Cook will treat the audience at O’Reilly’s to acoustic and classic rock selections.

Sunday, Dec. 31

Start your New Year’s Eve celebration early at Angry Erik Brewing, with a performance by Evolution at 2 p.m.

Or usher in the New Year at McQ’s Pub, where its New Year’s Eve Party with Cat Treats featuring Mike Fancher promises a night of groovy tunes and festive fun!

Wednesday, Jan. 3

Head back to McQ’s to catch Sean Henry’s weekly acoustic performance starting at 5 p.m.

Or kick off 2024 with Danny C’s second annual Hangover Ball with the Harrisons at 5 p.m. at Blue Arrow Farm, 86 Glenwood Road, Pine Island, N.Y. There will be prizes for the best hangover costume and a lively dancing crowd.

Thursday, Jan. 4

Open mic night will provide a platform for local talent to shine at 6 p.m. at Homestead Rest, 294 N. Church Road, Sparta. Sign-ups start at 5:30 p.m.

Chris Fantasia will bring his blues and shred guitar expertise to Krogh’s at 6:30 p.m. for a night of rock, blues and punk.

At 7:30 p.m. at Brick & Brew, enjoy “Anything Goes” night with JP of PS Xperiment. It features an open mic, karaoke and a solo acoustic performance.
