Vernon

Maple Grange Community Park at 36 Maple Grange Rd. encompasses 182 acres, and features three multi-purpose turf fields, a walking and biking path, picnic tables and a playground. One side of the playground has interactive equipment for children between the ages of two and five, while the other side features swings, a zip line, a tire swing and other entertaining items for kids between the ages of five and twelve. The park has a snack bar that is open during peak sporting events and restrooms are open daily.

Sparta

The playground at Station Park 100 Station Rd. has reopened as Kids Kastle. Improvements made while it was closed provide access to children of all abilities. Two inclusive playground areas were created with features for children with visual or hearing impairment, autism, mobility impairment and cognitive disabilities. Other work created subsurface drainage facilities.

Byram

CO Johnson Park at 117 Roseville Rd. has the first fully inclusive playground in the county, funded by a state Green Acres grant and community support. The park has equipment and layouts that support a wide range of needs, such as ramps for wheelchair access to elevated structures, sensory play panel, adaptive swings, quiet zones for children with sensory sensitivities and ground-level activities that encourage cooperative play. Parking is available near the playground. There are public restrooms and dogs are allowed in the park.

Andover Township

Hillside Park at 146 Lake Iliff Rd. features a baseball field and basketball court as well as a playground. The Barn is a large public building used for events such as craft shows and the winter farmers market.

Newton

Memory Park at 111 Moran St. is the oldest and largest public space in the county seat. Opened in 1934, it contains many playing fields and a picnic area as well as a small playground.
