Young bakers work to help end hunger

Year-end activities for Vernon students included a bake sale, held during the last fifth- and sixth-grade dance sponsored by the Vernon Recreation After School program at the PAL. Along with program coordinator Lisa Haw, 12 students donated their time and baking expertise to support the fight to end childhood hunger. All proceeds went to Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, which in partnership with Domino sugar and Food Network, supports after-school and summer feeding programs in the local community — food programs that hundreds and thousands of children depend on.
