Hardyston — The Sussex County YMCA will host a special Teen Night on Friday, April 16 from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m., that will be free for YMCA members and non-members, grades five through eight. The theme is Healthy Teens in honor of the YMCA’s national event, Healthy Kids Day, taking place the next day, Saturday, April 17. In addition to games and open swim time, this Friday Teen Night will feature helpful tips on keeping preteens and teens healthy and safe. There will be no pizza and chips. The menu will consist of a variety of healthy snacks including make-your-own fruit kabobs. YMCA teen counselors will host a healthy eating seminar and will distribute free recipe booklets. YMCA fitness trainers will lead an outdoor teen boot camp course (weather permitting) and give tours of the YMCA Wellness Center with instruction on using cardio and weight training machines. In an effort to teach adolescents in a fun and effective way to refrain from drugs and alcohol, the YMCA has once again teamed up with The Center for Prevention and Counseling who will supply Fatal Vision® goggles to simulate the effects of being impaired. The Sussex County YMCA is located at 15 Wits End Road in Hardyston. For more information visit www.sussexcountyymca.org or call the Welcome Center at 973-209-9622.
