Westy's takes second place in gymnastics First State Invitational'

Hardyston Westy’s Gymnastics in Hardyston was awarded a trophy for the Silver Team’s second place finish on Feb. 18, in “All Around” for all categories. Overall, it was an excellent performance from all the members of the Team. It was Westy’s first showing at the “First State Invitational” held in Dover, Del., competing against with teams from south New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland. The Westy’s participants on the Silver Team included (with All Around scores): Ally Frei of Branchville, 35.05, (9.65 1st place Vault); Emilly Stoveken of Hamburg, 34.8 (1st place Beam); and Shaneeka Smith of Vernon, 34.4. Westy’s Gold Team member Julia Nicholson of Stockholm, scored a 33.1 (1st All Around). The Bronze Team (Age 10-11), included: Nicole Swank of Ogdensburg, 34.8; Meghan Falk of Franklin, 34.35; Jacklyn Rind of Sparta, 32.5. The Bronze Team (Age 7-9), included: Marin Sheridan, 34.15 (1st place Vault & Beam); Dakota Voitu of Branchville, 32.85; Julie Duurloo of Ogdensburg, (31.4); and Alexandria Zeim of Ogdensburg, 31.2. Westy’s next scheduled meet will be at home on Saturday, March 3, dubbed “Flying High at Westy’s”. A total of 99 Bronze, 78 Silver and 17 Gold Gymnasts from 12 teams from New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania are scheduled to compete in 3 sessions, running from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Westy’s is located at 10 Park Place, Hardyston, and can be reached at 973-209-1552 for additional information on exact starting times.
