Vernon - “In order to have the sewer flow in place, you have to have water,” said Robert Beneke, Vernon township financial consultant, at an April 22 council meeting. Originally projected to cost $1.8 million, it now looks like the sewer hook-up process for the Vernon Town Center will cost $2.2 million, according to United Water. Some of that cost will be borne by the residents and businesses of the Town Center. Once it’s up and running, the town will have “end users” for the sewer and can bill for it. Beneke said the township would need 113,000 gallons of water per day. According to Campbell, United Water has several existing wells in Vernon for water supply. The target date to turn on the utilities is June 11, 2011.
