Wantage Eagle is a national winner

Wantage — Richard Gangloff, a member of Sussex-Wantage Troop 97, has been selected to receive the Mabel and Lawrence S. Cooke Endowment Scholarship for 2009. The $20,000 scholarship from the National Eagle Scout Association is given to only four Eagle Scouts in the nation. Each Eagle Scout represents one of the four areas of the United States: Northeast, Central, Western and Southern. Richard represents the total Northeastern Region. Winners of this scholarship are chosen by the Board of Regents and Officers of the National Eagle Scout Association. The board considered more than 4,000 applicants. Among the criteria used in selecting the winners: GPA and, SAT scores, continued community service hours and enrollment in a college or university offering at least a bachelor’s level degree upon completion of the course of study. More than 25 Scouts from Troop 97 have earned the rank of Eagle Scout during its 25-year history. For more information on Troop 97 see www.bsa97.org.
