    May 30 While on patrol at about 11:50 p.m., Vernon Patrolman Shaun Fitzgerald stopped a 2004, blue Toyota Highlander on Route 94 near Mountain Creek South for having a headlight out. Investigation at the scene resulted in the arrest of the driver, Shannon Stone, 28, of Vernon, for driving with a suspended driver license and on an outstanding warrant from the city of Paterson. The warrant was for contempt of court on a drug charge. Further investigation resulted in the arrests of both of his passengers. Michael Scalici, 20, of Vernon, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin). A second passenger, a 16-year-old female from the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Township, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and with being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin). The female juvenile was released into the custody of her father pending a court appearance in June. Stone was released pending a June 9 court appearance after posting $600 bail on the Paterson warrant. Scalici was released pending an appearance in court on June 9.
