Vernon Police
July 3 Officers Dan Young, James Higgins and Scott Waleck of The Vernon Police were called to Whispering Hills Road, which is a dirt roadway slated for new home development off of County Route 638, for a motorcycle crash. The officers found Thomas P. Driscoll lying off the dirt road. According to the officers, Driscoll was having difficulty breathing. The investigation revealed that Driscoll had hosted a party and decided to take a ride on his dirt motorcycle. When Driscoll did not return back to the party, members of his family went looking for him and discovered him on Whispering Hills Road. Vernon Township Ambulance Squad members responded and attended to Driscoll's injuries. Squad Members performed C.P.R. on Driscoll and transported him to St. Claire's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The subsequent police investigation revealed that Driscoll struck a tree and was ejected from the motorcycle while operating his motorcycle on Whispering Hills Road. The Sussex County Car Accident Reconstruction Team along with the Vernon Police Detective Bureau was notified of this crash. July 8 At 11:23 p.m. Patrolman Charles Reid stopped a vehicle on Sandhill Road for improper display of license plates and a loud muffler violation. Further investigation determined that the driver, John J Finamore , 20 , of Sussex, was in possession of alcoholic beverages while being under the legal age. Finamore was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was charged with underage possession of alcohol beverages while in a motor vehicle, improper display of license plates, having an improper muffler, and failure to maintain headlamps. He was processed and released pendimg a Vernon Municipal Court date alter this month.
