Think of the homeless dogs

October is Adopt a Shelter Dog month, and there has never been a better time to save a life and make a new best friend by adopting a homeless dog from your local animal shelter. Countless already-trained, loving, healthy and eager-to-please dogs have ended up in shelters across the country because their guardians could no longer afford to care for them or because they were forced to move into living situations where animals aren’t welcomed. Shelters are overflowing with dogs of all sizes, shapes and ages who are in desperate need of homes and about 25 percent of them are purebred — but mixed-breed dogs are equally great companions and are often more even-tempered and healthier. To find adoptable animals in your area, visit www.PetFinder.com. Please, help work toward the day when every dog has the loving home he or she deserves by adopting from shelters, boycotting breeders and pet stores (which bring more dogs into a world that is already critically short of good homes), and having your dogs spayed and neutered.
