The Rescue Round-Up

| 22 Feb 2012 | 12:50

Noah’s Ark Animal Welfare Association Razzieberry is an 8-year-old domestic shorthair cat. She loves Friskies cat treats. She is a little wary of other cats and dogs, so she would do best in a one pet only household. Kilala is a 5-year-old chocolate Staffordshire terrier mix (smaller size pit-bull type). She’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, playful, and likes other dogs, but is not sure about cats. She’s been a resident of Noah’s Ark since January. On Sunday, May 23, Noah’s Ark will host an Afternoon Country Kit-Tea starting at 2 p.m. at the Raritan Inn at Middle Valley (526 Route 513, Califon, NJ). Cat fanciers will enjoy a traditional three-course sit-down afternoon tea with a selection of blended teas, homemade scones donated by Sally Lunn’s Tea Shoppe and Restaurant, an assortment of authentic tea sandwiches, and gourmet desserts donated by Dulce Petit. Dr. Sheila Lounsberry of Veterinary Acupuncture Services will be discussing holistic remedies and acupuncture for cats. An array of cat and tea items will also be displayed at the silent auction. Tickets are $40 per person, but space is limited to the first 50 registrants. Email holle@noahsarknj.org to check on availability. For more information on Noah’s Ark, their pets for adoption, or upcoming events, visit www.noahsarknj.org or call 973-347-0378. CLAWS Cat Rescue & Adoption Shelter of Sussex, Inc. On Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., CLAWS will host a baby shower for their kittens at the shelter (28 Pelletown Road, Augusta, NJ). Enjoy giveaways and meet cats and kittens for adoption ($40 each to qualified homes). Refreshments will be served and yard and bake sale items will be available for sale. Donations for the cats and kittens are greatly appreciated. On Saturday, June 12 from 12 to 5 p.m., CLAWS will host a car show at Skylands Park (94 Championship Place, Augusta, NJ). Tickets are $15 a person and cars must register for entry between 11 a.m. to noon. Trophies awarded. Cars will parade around the field prior to the 2 p.m. baseball game. The Miller truck will be on hand with giveaways. There will also be a swap meet and various other vendors to browse. On Saturday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m (rain date: June 27), CLAWS will host a Motorcycle Poker Run at Franklin American Legion (57 Ed Mitchell Avenue, Franklin). Cars welcome. Coffee and donuts served between 9 and 11 a.m. sign-in. Hot lunch items served starting at noon. Stay for door prizes, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and best poker hand. Minimum donation of $20 per driver/$15 per passenger and $10 for lunch only requested. For more information on this event contact Gary at 973-600-4629 or bikergary@aol.com. CLAWS is open 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 28 Pelletown Road in Augusta. For more information on CLAWS and their upcoming events, visit www.clawscatshelter.com or call 973- 875-8540. Eleventh Hour Rescue Adaria is a young shepherd mix who has been waiting several months for her forever home. She is very affectionate with everyone, including other dogs and kids. She knows some basic commands and learns quickly. Unfortunately, Adaria has epilepsy, but the seizures are completely under control thanks to the medication she is on, which is not expensive. She just needs a home to call her own. For more information on Eleventh Hour and their dogs for adoption, visit www.ehrdogs.org or call 973-664-0865 (please leave voicemail).
