Oct. 22 Robert Norman, 26, formerly of Newton was indicted with the third degree crime of failing to comply with Megan’s Law by failing to register with the Newton Police Department and the fourth degree crime of failure to notify the New Jersey State Police that he had moved to a new address in the Town of Newton. The c It is alleged that Norman moved to the Town of Newton and failed to register as a convicted sex offender. As a convicted sex offender under Megan’s Law, Norman is required to register with the local police department in the town that he resides. A grand jury indictment is a charge only. Mary McCaffrey, 54, of Newton was indicted with aggravated assault, a third degree crime; and possession of a weapon with an unlawful purpose, a third degree crime. Emmett Myers, 74, formerly of Wantage, was indicted with the third degree crime of failing to comply with Megan’s Law by failing to register with the New Jersey State Police, the fourth degree crime of failure to comply with the conditions of a special sentence of Community Supervision for Life, and the third degree crime of failure to comply with the Sex Offender Monitoring Act (GPS monitoring). Raia, 27 of Montville pled guilty to fourth degree criminal trespass. He admitted to forcing the side window out of the Stanhope Gulf Station and taking money from the register. Joanne De Riancho, 25, of Andover pled guilty to the third crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. She admitted that she possessed 13 bags of heroin on Oct. 5, 2007 during the course of a motor vehicle stop. Charles Waldron, 32, of Newton pled guilty to two counts of third degree distribution of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to distributing small amounts of heroin in Newton on Feb. 26 and March 9 to an individual cooperating with the Sussex County Guns, Gangs and Narcotics Task Force. Brian M. Cummins, 56, of Vernon pled guilty to third degree theft. He admitted that from March, 2006 through October, 2008, while employed as a cashier at Mac & Lindy’s Liquor Store, he stole approximately $38,000. Oct. 28 Matthew Handville, 47, of Newton pled guilty to unlawful possession of a weapon, a third degree charge. He admitted that he threatened police officers with two knives when they responded to his home. Dawn M. Ashley, 23, of Hamburg pled guilty to third degree theft. She admitted to stealing over $500 worth of lottery tickets from the Variety Central Store in Sussex. Angel A. Cruz, 32, of Manhattan pled guilty to the third crime of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He admitted to possessing cocaine in Byram Township on April 9 during the course of a motor vehicle stop. Oct. 29 A juvenile pled guilty to third degree theft, third degree burglary and accomplice liability. He was adjudicated a juvenile delinquent by the court. The juvenile, age 17, of Hopatcong, was sentenced to 12 months probation with a six-month loss of his driver’s license. He must also perform 35 hours of community service, attend school every day and follow all home and school rules, submit a DNA sample, undergo random drug testing, have no contact with the victim, pay $800 restitution joint and several, and pay $630 in fines. The juvenile and several co-defendants broke into various vehicles in Roxbury Township in June taking personal items and electronic equipment. Oct. 30 Robert J. Burns, 23, of Franklin was sentenced to three years probation and 270 days in the Sussex County Jail with a credit of 130 days. He pled guilty on Aug. 17 to burglary, a third degree crime. On May 29, in Wantage, he entered a residence without the owner’s knowledge or permission looking for marijuana. Nigel Bisbing, 23, of Easton, PA was sentenced to 18 months probation and 75 hours community service. He pled guilty on July 24 to aggravated assault, a fourth degree crime. He became physically and verbally abusive to Andover Township Police Officers when they tried to arrest him for contempt of court. Antonio Torres, 31, of McAfee was sentenced to two years probation, 50 hours community service and restitution of $1,281.43. He pled guilty on Sept. 8, to burglary, a third degree crime. He entered a locked vehicle in the Skylands Park parking lot and stole a deposit bag containing approximately $1,300. Nov. 2 Mary Vandermark, 32, of Franklin pled guilty to third degree use of a credit card. She admitted to using another person’s credit card without their permission to buy goods at Newton WalMart. James Kiester, 20, of Hamburg, pled guilty to three counts of third degree forgery and one count third degree theft. In September, Keister forged the victim’s name on three checks and then cashed them at a bank in Franklin. He also took over $6000 of jewelry from the victim and then pawned the jewelry.
