Vernon — It was beauty time on Saturday, July 24, at the Vernon Township Firehouse, as DOGS of Vernon held its third annual dog wash and nail clipping. With the help of Vernon veterinarian Michael Ramieri and vet techs Paul Tanski, Brianne Masters, Mary Walsh and Vernon Animal Control, it was reported that the event was the most successful fundraiser to date for DOGS of Vernon. More than 100 dogs clicked their way to the ramp for a pedicure or made their way to the shower where volunteers from Vernon’s Boy Scouts, DOGS of Vernon and The Hiking Greyhounds helped with their baths. DOGS of Vernon is a nonprofit charity working toward establishing the first off-leash dog park in Vernon. Upcoming fundraisers for DOGS include: Dinner at the McAfee Diner on Friday, July 31, between 5 and 7 p.m. A portion of all proceeds will go to DOGS. A yard sale, Aug. 29 in the Mountain Creek South parking lot. For more information visit www.dogsofvernon.org.
