Student art on display

Sixteen students from Walnut Ridge Primary School in Vernon have artwork on display at the Board of Education Office throughout the month of February. Their work has a winter theme and features tempera paintings of snow creatures, mixed media pictures of winter trees, sponge painted winter forests and snowflakes, whip-stitched mittens, mixed media scenes incorporating winter birds and six-pointed cutout snowflakes. The artists are kindergartners and first-graders, working under the direction of art teacher Denise Docherty. The display was dedicated to retiring superintendent Anthony Macerino, with a banner wishing him happiness signed by many students representing the school. Students who contributed artwork to the display are: Joseph Carosella, Kayla Cruz, Emma DaCosta, Amelia Dawes, Caleb Gibson, Kyle Hayes, Jack Houseworth, Kiana Kerton, Shane Lyden, Emily McGovern, Madyson Potts, Kyra Stoeckel, Andrea Sullivan, Jordan Toll, Mia Touw, Olivia Vizzini.
