Stockholm resident wants to be a millionaire
STOCKHOLM-Patti Whelan, a Stockholm resident and mother of two, will appear as a contestant on the game show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" next Thursday, June 30. Whelan, 41, is a school van driver who said she tried out for the show because she wanted to make enough money to buy her daughter a car and pay for college for both her children. She'd also like to open an indoor skate park in Stockholm; her son is a competitive skateboarder. According to the show's publicists, Whelan and her husband, Larry, have been married 18 years. For the past nine years, they have been attempting to finish an addition to their home. Whelan was encouraged to try out when she played a version of the game show on a cruise last year. "Despite a hangover and having gone to bed at 4am, she made it all the way up to the 500,000 point' level," a "Millionaire" spokesperson reported. "Patti said she had a good night of sleep to prepare for her real hot seat performance." The show airs at 12:30 p.m. on WABC.
