Three Miners named Can-Am all-stars

    Three Sussex County Miners were named to all-stars by the Can-Am League.

    First baseman Audy Ciriaco was named the league's top first baseman for the second season in a row, currently first in the league with 113 hits, second with a .328 batting average and 69 RBI, and fourth with 25 doubles. Defensively, he set a league record for first basemen by not registering an error in 582 total chances.

    League newcomer second baseman Trey Hair made an immediate impact with the first-place Miners, swatting 27 doubles, tied for second-most in the league, to go along with a .322 average, fourth-highest, and 27 stolen bases, fifth-highest. Hair has also appeared in all 92 of his team's games and leads league second basemen in most defensive categories.

    Defensive Player of the Year: Cito Culver was named defensive player of the year. The former New York Yankees' first-round draft pick was excellent in the field for the Boulders and Miners, making just seven errors in 301 chances and leading all shortstops with 43 double plays turned.
