The Wallkill Valley Regional High School girls soccer team lost its season opener to North Warren, 2-0, there Wednesday, Sept. 3.

The Rangers are scheduled to play at Lenape Valley at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8 before hosting Hopatcong at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10 and Sussex Tech on Saturday, Sept. 13.

“We want to go out and consistently win,’’ head coach Kate Savitski said. “We have grown so much as a program the past year. We’re looking to be a real competitor this year.’’

Among the key returning players are juniors Adrianna Romeo (midfield and forward, 12 goals and nine assists in 2024) and Kate Fahrenfeld (defender) and sophomore Harley Ojeda (goal tender, 211 saves in 2024).

Promising newcomers include freshmen Alanna Romeo (midfield and defender), Lilly Geuther (forward) and Rachel Carr (defender).

Adrianna Romeo and Julianna Capriglione are the team captains.

“They are amazing leaders and emblematic of what I want the program to become as a coach,” Savitski said.

Last year, the Rangers finished with a 4-13 overall record and a 1-9 mark in the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Colonial Division.

This season, they again compete in the Colonial Division along with Sussex Tech, Dover, Hopatcong, Jefferson and North Warren.

“North Warren will definitely be competitive,’’ the coach said. “We are excited to see what Jefferson has to offer as the newbie to the division.’’
