VERNON — Now in at its fourth year at Mountain Creek, Saturday’s Tri State New Jersey Beast totaled about 12 1/2 miles some steep terrain that included a combination of leftover snow and mud.
The course included 32 obstacles spread out over the tops and slopes of the resort's three peaks, including a downhill run on the Tennessee Gas Pipeline.
About 6,500 of the reacers them paid between $160-$175 each for the opportunity to push themselves to their limits.
The next Spartan event, the shorter and more traditional, Tri-State New Jersey Super is scheduled to be held at Mountain Creek on Sept. 12 and 13.
