Golfers participating in the 9nDine Golf Tournament on Thursday, August 1st not only enjoyed a great time on the beautiful Ballyowen Golf Course but they also experience an awesome sunset as they enjoyed a delicious buffet dinner in the Club’s Owen’s Pub.

The format of play for the event was a 4-golfer team scramble in which each golfer hit their shot and then played the best shot through the completion of the hole and the completion of the 9 hole event. The team with the lowest score was declared the winner.

The competition in this event was unusually tight with four teams ending play with the same 5-under par 31. The winner had to be decided by a match of cards to determine which team achieved on the most difficult holes. Team Orabone made up Kevin Reed, Kevin Orabone, Mike Rafanello and Craig Gorczyca were declared the winner.

Prizes were also presented to the golfers who out-performed the field in a longest drive for men and women and a closest to the pin contest. The Men’s Longest Drive winner was Kevin Reed with Dee Passerelle hitting the longest drive for the women. Tony Casalino’s tee shot that came to rest 16’ 9 “ from the pin was good enough to take the prize in the closest to the pin competion.

While any golf tournament can only have one winner teams can have memorable moments during play. Team Sylvester finished in 5th place with a 1 under par 35 but had a great moment when a team member sank a 50-foot putt save a bogey.
