Jefferson plans cornhole tournament

The Jefferson Arts Committee will be sponsoring a Cornhole Tournament at Jefferson Township Day this year that will benefit a resident of the township.
The Cornhole Tournament is basically a bean-bag toss attempting to score points by placing it in a hole on a board from a distance of 27 feet. Points are accumulated until a team of players reach a total of 21 points. They are declared the winner and move on to the next round of competition.
The Arts Committee is hoping to field 16 teams of two players each. The winning team will receive a cash prize of $200 and the second place team will receive $100, provided there are 16 teams in the challenge. The winning teams will also receive Olympic style medals.
A resident of the Township who is in need of financial aid will receive $300; again, provided 16 teams are competing in the challenge. The recipient will be determined by the Cornhole Tournament Committee.
Groups or individuals who will not have had the opportunity to compete can make a donation to the financial aid by sending it to the Jefferson Arts Committee, PO Box 2604, Oak Ridge, NJ 07438. All donations will be acknowledged.
Entry forms can be obtained from Jack Kelly by calling 973-697-5957 or at the Library and the Municipal Building.
