Snowflakes point out individuality

Vernon Art students from Walnut Ridge Primary School and Vernon Township High School have combined their talents to contribute to an exhibit that will grace the Board of Education Office through the month of December. The theme of the display is that there is beauty in uniqueness. Eight first-grade artists and five high school enrichment artists created paper snowflakes. Learning that every real snowflake has six sides or six points, but that each has a unique and beautiful design, the students practiced the complicated folds and cut various shapes away to make an assortment of flakes for the exhibit. The students worked under the direction of art teacher Denise Docherty with the help of several instructional aides and assistants including Judy Kiddoo, Jason Sosa, Jason Yorn, Adam Romano, Erica Muzer and Linda Selsor. The student artists are: first-graders Jorge, Luke, Nicholas, Jolene, Nicholas, Jackie, Lukas and Anthony and high-school artists Dillion, Tyler, Rebecca, Ricky and Phoebe.
