Early-bird rates in effect until Nov. 6 Jefferson Township — The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is once again sponsoring a school-based six-week ski/snowboard program at Mountain Creek in Vernon for Jefferson Township residents in grades 3 through 12. The program is open on a first-come, first-served basis and registration has begun. Registration fees are non-refundable and programs are being offered at early-bird rates until Nov. 6. After that date, prices for all packages increase. Jefferson Township students/residents ages 7 to 18 may choose either a ski or snowboard package, and all first-time skiers and snowboarders must take lessons at no extra charge. A multi-trip program lift ticket which includes six lessons (one for each night the student skis or snowboards with the club) is available for $119 or a Youth Club Member All Access season pass for $199 (for 7 to 18-year-olds participating in the multi-trip program). Equipment rental packages are available (for skis, boots and poles, or snowboards) with the multi-trip six-trip package at a cost of $95 and is only valid on the nights the student attends Mountain Creek with the ski/board club group. All skiers and snowboarders must wear helmets to protect against head injury while participating in this township ski/board club program. The Recreation Department offers optional bus transportation for the six group trips to and from Mountain Creek at a fee of $85 per student. Students will be allowed to bring their own skis or snowboards to their respective school the morning of each trip (not on the school bus) and on the ski bus with them to Mountain Creek. Program will start in January If a trip must be cancelled due to inclement weather, announcements will be made in the schools by noon that day. Rescheduled dates may not be on a Wednesday if approaching the end of the season. Youth meal vouchers are available at a cost of $5.95 per meal. Mountain Creek and Jefferson Rec are also offering friends and family products to residents and non-residents. For a complete registration packet, JTHS students should see the school’s ski trip advisor Gino Rose. Middle School students should see their ski trip advisor Jessica Hoertel. All others should stop by the Jefferson Township Recreation Department office, 81 Weldon Road at Camp Jefferson Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. or contact the office by telephone at 973-663-8404 in order to have a packet mailed.
