Singing at school

Singer-songwriter Marty Koppel, right, of Vernon recently visited Walnut Ridge Primary School, where his daughter attends first grade, to perform some of his original music as well as some holiday tunes. Bette Holderith’s and Maureen Dewland’s classes gathered in the art room for the intimate guitar performance and sing-along. Music teacher Michael Moschella, left, arranged the visit and played and sang along, too, as the children joined in “This Land is Your Land.” Koppel performs frequently at venues throughout the region and has released a CD entitled “Vernon Town.”
