Singers recognized for excellence

    Vernon-Approximately 160 Vernon Township High School students participated in the New Jersey-American Choral Directors Association's state choral festival at Kean University recently. The singers, under the direction of Mr. Max Taylor and Mr. Richard Zweier, were judged on six possible ratings levels n superior, outstanding, excellent, very good, fair and honorable mention. The Meistersingers, Repertoire Performance Rating was Outstanding, and Sight Singing Rating was Superior. Concert Choir mixed received Excellent for both Repertoire Performance and Sight Singing Reading; the Concert Choir Women received Excellent for both the Repertoire Performance and Sight Singing Reading. The performance standards and evaluative criteria for this festival are very rigorous and highly demanding.
