Hamburg’s borough council considered the request of the owners of DeBoers Auto Body, who asked the town to create a law, similar to one in Vernon, mandating that borough employees assign work to local businesses. The issue came up at the council’s Aug. 3 meeting. DeBoers pointed out they’d been in business in Hamburg for 25 years and pay taxes above $13,000.
