Seventh-graders can join Sussex YMCA for free
HARDYSTON Beginning this week, the Sussex County YMCA is granting free facility membership to seventh-graders in the area. Students, accompanied by a parent or guardian, must join in person and bring proof of grade level such as the previous semester’s report card or student identification card. This special membership is valid until June 30, 2010. The free membership includes use of the facility’s pool during open-swim sessions, use of the fitness equipment in the Wellness Center after completing the required Teen Training Workshop, selected exercise classes designed for teens and the American Red Cross Guard Start program for aspiring future lifeguards. The seventh-grade membership will also allow students to enroll in other YMCA programs at the reduced member rate. These programs include: the American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training, Comedy Improv classes, Teen Leaders Club and Teen Nights at the Y. Parents can drop off their seventh-graders for the programs specifically supervised by trained YMCA staff members. However, for open use of the pool and Wellness Center, parents are required to remain in the building. For more information on the free seventh grade membership or any YMCA program, please visit the Welcome Center at 15 Wits End Road in Hardyston, or call 973-209-9622.
