Senior Services public hearing scheduled

Sparta — The Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Senior Services (Area Agency on Aging), and its advisory council invite seniors and caregivers to participate in their annual public hearing on Thursday, June 3 at 1:30 p.m., at the Sparta Senior Center, Knoll Heights Village, 39 Trapasso Drive, Sparta. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive comments for consideration when updating the agency’s area plan contract for 2010-2012. The area plan contract identifies services that the Sussex County Division of Senior Services funds with federal, state and county dollars. Currently-funded service providers will have exhibits on-site for the convenience of seniors, caregivers, and those who serve the senior population. MaryLou Schnurr, Director of the Sussex County Division of Senior Services said, “This is an opportunity for seniors and/or their caregivers to make their needs known. All interested parties are encouraged to join us.” Transportation to the public hearing is available by calling 973-579-0483 at least three days prior to the event. Those wishing to testify in person at the public hearing or to submit written testimony are asked to contact the Sussex County Department of Human Services, Division of Senior Services at 973-579-0555 or seniorservices@sussex.nj.us no later than May 28.
