Senior center offers events

    VERNON — The Vernon senior center has plenty of activities planned through the end fo the year. Hot lunches with dessert, beverage and soup or salad are offered Monday through Friday for $2. To arrange, seniors must call a day in advance at 973-764-5454. Seniors who do not drive can call Sussex County Transit at 973-579-0483 a day in advance for a ride to local shopping areas or for appointments. The center is looking for pinochle players. On Monday, Sept. 12, the knitting and crocheting club will meet at 11 a.m. On Friday, Sept. 16, a beginners computer class will meet at 10:30 a.m. On Monday, Oct. 17, Nancy Reading will offer a talk on "Changes in Elder Law" at 11 a.m. On Monday, Oct. 31, there will be a Hoe-down. Participants should come dressed in proper attire, such as straw hat, jeans, and plaid shirts. On Friday, Dec. 23, a Christmas Party will be held, Future events include trips to Longwood Gardens, Shea Stadium, Madison Square Garden's 2006 Christmas Spectacular.
