Scouts learned about government
Vernon Mayor Austin Carew took time from his busy schedule in March to enlighten the Boy Scouts of Troop 912 about our local government. The boys learned that the interaction between local, county and state government can often make simple changes very complicated. They also learned that government can be a slow process and changes that were approved years ago may not be appropriate by the time they actually get done. The boys presented questions to Mayor Carew about issues in Vernon as a requirement of the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge and may have actually learned something in the process. The troop would like to thank the Mayor once again for his time and commitment to our youth. Boy Scouting continues to build character and develop values in our children, boys and girls, ages 7 to 20. For more information, call 973 827-9502. Dave DiPietro Vernon
