HARDYSTON — Wallkill Valley Regional High School received a $3,600 grant from the New Jersey School Boards Association that helped fund surveillance cameras at the school. Two cameras were installed during the summer break to cover the school’s 10 front doors. According to Wallkill Valley District Superintendent Joseph DiPasquale, the security cameras were installed as a precautionary measure; there have been no specific incidents that prompted the need for them. “We feel that the installation of cameras is a great way to augment our present security system,” he said. The project cost $25,000. The high school had applied for two grants to help pay for the new security system, including one it hopes to receive for the project from the federal government, provided through the Hardyston Police Department. George Morville of the School Boards Association attended the board’s Oct. 20 meeting to present them with the check.
