Rotary gets a big thank-you from Wynn family
We hope you will find the space in your column to allow us to thank the Rotary of Vernon for their help in raising funds to aid our daughter, Micayla Wynn, in her fight against Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia. Her diagnosis in August of 2009 left us in a position of not being able to afford the somewhat expensive blood tests and ongoing diagnostic testing that is needed to make sure her leukemia remains in a controlled state. The Rotary of Vernon helped us plan a very successful raffle to raise funds for Micayla’s ongoing care. We can never thank the members of the Rotary sufficiently for their assistance with the licensing requirements of the raffle, which were detailed and time consuming. It is humbling to be put in a position of having to ask others for help when you experience something catastrophic in your life. It is heartwarming to know that there are individuals out there who will sacrifice their own time to help others who are in need. Special thanks go to Theresa Vihti for offering the Rotary’s assistance, and to Stephen McGee for handling all of the paperwork both with Vernon Township and the State of NJ. Thanks also to Dr. Avanente Tamagnini for his help with processing the donations that were received. The raffle was a huge success due to the efforts of these and other Rotary members who all agreed to help us in our time of need, and for this we will be forever grateful.
