Revaluation update

Vernon — The revaluation of Vernon continues. A representative of Chasan, Leyner and Lamparello appeared before the Town Council at its most recent meeting, along with Lynne Schweighardt, township tax assessor, to update them on the tax appeals. All 434 of Vernon’s cases have made it through the county tax court; 126 will proceed to the state level. The numbers are as follows: Total ratable properties in Vernon: 14,028 Total value of all ratable properties: $2.8 billion Value of properties being appealed: $90.6 million Total percentage of valuations appealed: 3 percent.
