Silas Phillipsburg-based Mylestone Equine Rescue received a call late one night from a woman who said there was a horse loose in her yard. It turned out that the horse, Silas, had been living on a farm alone and went wandering off due to broken fencing. Sadly, Silas’ owners had a tragic situation and the farm where he was being kept wouldn’t take him back, so this 17-hand chestnut thoroughbred gelding has come to live with Mylestone Equine Rescue. Silas is a 13-year-old ex-racehorse with very nice conformation and a wonderful personality. He would make a great horse for light pleasure riding. Contact Mylestone at 908-995-9300 or through www.mylestone.org if you are interested in giving Silas a home. Mylestone Equine Rescue also has many horses looking for sponsors, and volunteers are always needed. Sterling and Muki Room For One More has two lovable dogs looking for homes. Sterling is a 3-year old American Stafford Terrier/Shepherd mix. He is a very sweet and happy boy. Sterling is great with kids and most other dogs. Muki is a large 2-year old Akita mix. He is friendly and playful and is looking for a home with no other animals, so he can be spoiled beyond belief. For more information on Sterling, Muki, or RFOM’s other animals, visit www.rfom.org or call 973-770-6700. Goldie and Marie Cat Rescue & Adoption Shelter of Sussex, Inc., also known as CLAWS, is an Augusta-based rescue for cats who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. The shelter always has a variety of kittens and adult cats in need of loving homes. Their adoption fee of $40 includes all age-appropriate vaccines. All cats and kittens have tested FIV/FELV negative and are also wormed and treated for parasites, including fleas and ticks. Cats of age are spayed/neutered before adoption. Two cats in need of loving homes are Goldie and Marie. Goldie is an adorable 3+ year-old female. She is extremely sweet and lovable and shares her crate with Marie, a gray long-haired kitty. They are very close and would prefer to be adopted together. For more information on Goldie, Marie, and CLAWS, visit clawsnj.9f.com or call 973-875-8540. Donations are always needed and appreciated. Brindy and Blossom Lafayette-based Father John’s Animal House has two special dogs looking for loving homes. Brindy is a very sweet girl who was in a home for many years and finds herself homeless through no fault of her own. She gets along with everyone; her tail is always wagging and she has a great temperament. Brindy is a wonderful companion and would make a perfect addition to any family. Blossom is a sweet and social little beagle. She loves everyone, including other dogs. Blossom also loves to snuggle and sit in people’s laps. For more information on Brindy, Blossom, or Father John’s other animals for adoption, visit www.sussex.petfinder.org or call 973-300-5909.
