Recovery Lane helps spread the word about addiction

NEWTON To recognize National Recovery Month and to honor those in recovery support programs, Recovery Lane, a visual depiction of the hope, strength and courage of those in recovery from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol, was unveiled at the gazebo in Newton’s Square on Sept. 23. It was organized by The Center for Prevention and Counseling. Jeffrey Parrott, Deputy Freeholder Director read a proclamation from the Sussex County Board of Chosen Freeholders and offered words of encouragement to attendees. “Recovery is possible every day,” Parrott said. T-shirts lined the walls of the gazebo, each with a different message, offering words of hope or honoring those who lost their lives to their own personal battles with substance use. Barbara Adolphe, Executive Director of the Center for Prevention and Counseling said the T-shirts were displayed at an addiction conference at Sussex County Community College on Oct. 2, and then the shirts will travel to future conferences. Businesses or groups which would like to feature the shirts at an event can contact Adolphe at CFPC for more information at: 973-383-4787.
