Reader: Newspaper should do more than just report

With regards to the sex offender article in May 6, 2010 Advertiser -News, what was the purpose of the article? The Editors note spoke of an offender who paid his debt to society. The article also stated that the “systems are working well” yet went on to say nothing had been done. The children were still picked up at the same place. The offender still at home with child pornography, weapons, then returned home after making bail. The only system I see is a newspaper more in fear of a lawsuit than the welfare of a community’s children. How about growing a spine and asking a Congressman why these problems aren’t addressed? How is it a sex offender is released to live at a school bus stop and obtain weapons and child pornography? Make a difference. Don’t just share the misery.
