Reader: Legion's request disgraced a veteran
It is a disgrace and a shame the way the bar chairman and barmaid at the American Legion, Post 132 in Franklin treated Korean War veteran Ralph L. Rojas. He was actually refused to be served a beer at the bar. All because he refused to write his name in a book, which is only needed if you bring in a guest. It isn’t mandatory. Ralph is a member of the American Legion at Pratt, Kansas. Since he was out of the Army and only visits when he goes to Kansas to see his family, could this be discrimination? Ralph is the perfect role model as a veteran, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. This isn’t the first time this has happened. This is the way veterans show respect for each other? Especially at a time when veterans should be role models for our young men and women. The American Legion isn’t their own business. They should be replaced by a more intelligent member. The bar chairman and barmaid should be replaced by a members that knows the rules. Both of them owe Ralph Rojas an apology for being humiliated in this way. Dolores Rojas Franklin
