Reader calls on neighbors to speak up about dam repair hearing

Here we are again on the subject of Lake Neepaulin. It seems that the Friends of Lake Neepaulin (FOLN) are up to their old scare tactics again telling Wantage taxpayers in the R-2 Zone if the lake is drained the taxpayers will foot the bill. FOLN owns the lake and the dam, lock stock and barrel. If they would take time to read the laws the y would find that the (FOLN) are liable for the cost, whether it is repairing the dam or taking it down. They cannot just throw up their hands and walk away from this situation. FOLN knew the problems pertaining to the repair of the dam when they purchased it. They sat on their hands for 10 years and did nothing about it. They are now trying to bulldoze their way through this. FOLN now is taking Wantage Township to superior court Morristown on May 14, at 1:30 p.m. They want to reinstate ordinance 2008-16. This ordinance was rescinded because it did not benefit the taxpayers or the township. It was the $1 million lien on Wantage taxpayers in Zone R-2 for 20 years. FOLN also wants $30 to $40,000 from Wantage taxpayers for their engineering costs. Taxpayers of Wantage, this is your money. Stand up and be heard. Do not let FOLN get away with this “Dam scam.” We are not a lake community. FOLN is going against a superior court decision made by Judge Stanton dated Feb. 1981. This decision still stands. It is the law. Rocco Russo Wantage
