Project Self-Sufficiency to offer home health aide training at Newton campus

    NEWTON — Project Self-Sufficiency will offer a certified homemaker-home health aide training course at the agency’s Newton campus beginning Tuesday, Oct. 6. The 60-hour course will be offered from 9:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 12. A representative from All Quality Care, Inc. will provide the standard 60 hours of training required of all unlicensed assistive personnel, as well as the 16 hours of home health and hospice instruction required to work in the home care setting. Training will include topics such as communication, teamwork, caring for the client in the home setting, review of all body systems, the aging client, household safety, infection control, as well as specific discussions about Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and other diseases. The course will include classroom instruction as well as hands-on training in a clinical lab setting. Attendance is free, but registration is required.
