Police collect coats and food

Vernon Township’s Policemen’s Benevolent Association Local 285 is collecting winter coats and canned food. The drive, in conjunction with the Home for the Holidays festival, is asking residents to donate new or gently used winter coats, canned and non-perishable food items. Donation boxes are set up in the Vernon Township Police Department lobby. The donated items will go to needy families in the Vernon Township area. This event will run through Jan. 5, 2010.
