HAMBURG n The children of Hamburg are one step closer to having their playground as the members of the borough council voted to contribute $1,000 to the building fund in memory of Councilwoman Ginny Gorman. Gorman, who passed away last month, was a conscientious supporter of the project. The new playground, which is planned for the grounds of Hamburg School, is expected to cost about $28,500, and Dawn O'Grady, the chairwoman of the Hamburg Playground Committee said that the group has collected $21,000. At the start of the council meeting on Aug. 1, Mayor Paul Marino asked for a moment of silence for the three-term member of the council. He said, "I worked with her for nine years. She was stalwart and was never unnerved under all the stress and problems that she had. She was great as far as looking out for the kids of the town. I was impressed with how she attended all the meetings even though she was ill." He concluded, "I'm very proud to have been affiliated with her as a friend and on this board. She will be sorely missed." His sentiments were echoed by the other council members.
