Nursing scholarships available
Newton Memorial Hospital Foundation to offer opportunities to prospective RN students NEWTON - Newton Memorial Hospital Foundation is offering scholarship opportunities to students at Sussex County Community College who are interested in becoming registered nurses. In return, students who receive the scholarships must work at Newton Memorial Hospital for their first two years on a full-time basis or for three years on a part-time basis, if hired by the Hospital. “The idea is to create a pipeline of new talent between Sussex County Community College and Newton Memorial Hospital,” said Megan Sandow, the foundation’s vice president of development. “The students receive greater access to quality education and, in return, the hospital gets highly skilled nurses to provide quality care to our patients.” The scholarship program began seven years ago between the foundation and Sussex County Community College, exclusively, in response to a nationwide nursing shortage. In that time, the Foundation has donated $450,000 to support SCCC’s nursing program. Students interested in the foundation scholarship opportunities with plans to attend Sussex County Community College, Bergen County Community College or Warren County Community College can download the application package at www.AllLifeLong.org and click on “Donate to NMH.” All applications must be submitted and postmarked no later than Feb. 15.
