Nominate a senior for top honors

Vernon — Nominations are being accepted for Vernon’s male and female Senior of the Year. A nominee must be a Vernon resident for at least five years and have rendered service that benefits the community and surrounding areas, such as volunteering in hospitals, county, or other such work. Nominees do not need to be a husband and wife team. Employees of Vernon Township and members of the Senior Board are not eligible for nomination. Recommendations should be sent to the attention of Recreation and Leisure Department, Vernon Municipal Building, 21 Church St., Box 340, Vernon, N.J. 07462. Deadline for nominations is April 23, 2010. The winner or winners will be announced at the township’s Spring Luncheon for Seniors to be held May 20, 2010 at Crystal Springs. Vernon seniors interested in attending the luncheon can sign up at the Senior Center on April 28 between 9 a.m. and noon. Proof of residence must be provided at time of sign up. Cost is $7 per person.
