New volunteer coordinator for United Way

Newton — Kathleen Nelson has been hired as the new service learning/volunteer coordinator for the United Way of Sussex County. Nelson will work on enhancing the volunteer efforts of United Way throughout Sussex County and as a liaison between the United Way and Sussex County Community College students and faculty involved in service learning. The former director of Off-Campus Services for Felician College at SCCC, Nelson will work with SCCC by connecting students and faculty with the many government, nonprofit, religious and community service organizations in Sussex County seeking opportunities for volunteer help and/or service learning situations. Nelson received a bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from the University of California, Davis, and a master of science degree in counseling from the California State University, Northridge.
