On-snow event to benefit Vernon Skatepark Memorial Organization Vernon - April showers bring May... rail jams? It’s true. Mountain Creek is still home to a substantial amount of snow thanks to the stockpile cleverly disguised as the 22’ quarter-pipe. This Saturday, May 22nd, freestyle skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to bust out their winter gear once more for a good cause. A $10 suggested donation benefits the Vernon Skatepark Memorial Organization. The hike park will be located on Big Bear at Bear Peak. Show up anytime between 10am and 4pm, but know that hiking will be required to get to the action. Food in the form of Red Bull and Nature Valley bars will be on-site, as well as music courtesy of DJ Pat Tyler. Bring your skateboard, too - the Red Bull Skate Bowl will be open in the South Base lodge. Created by the passionate skateboarders of the community, the Vernon Skatepark Memorial Organization is dedicated to bringing a quality skateboarding facility to Vernon, suitable for beginners all the way to the seasoned skater. Donations are welcome in the form of monetary funds, labor, services, gifts, merchandise and materials. One hundred percent of donations are used to finance and construct the facility.
