Money$mart Week means free programs
Sussex County The week of April 16 to 22 is the sixth annual Money$mart Week in Sussex County. Residents will have an opportunity to increase their financial knowledge by attending presentations given by area financial professionals. The sessions are commercial-free and will be offered at the Sussex County Administrative Center in Newton, Sussex County libraries in Vernon, Sussex-Wantage and Frankford and several other area sites. Additional information about the week’s events can be found at www.aroundthearea.com or at the county’s Web site: www.sussex.nj.us. M$W will also include 22 financial seminars for adults held during both morning and evening hours on topics that include investing, estate planning, retirement and home ownership. All Money$mart Week sessions, except one, are free of charge. The one session with a fee is called: Taking Control: A Financial Workshop for Women, on Thursday, April 22, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Lake Mohawk Country Club in Sparta. The $10 fee for this program includes dinner. Three speakers from the New Jersey Society of CPAs will discuss a variety of financial topics geared specifically to women. Money$mart Week promotes the financial wellness of Sussex County citizens of all ages and incomes. It is the only financial education program of its type in New Jersey and one of less than a dozen M$W programs conducted nationwide. M$W began in 2005 and is sponsored by a committee of volunteers that develops a week-long financial education program for local residents. In 2006, the program won a “Quality in Living” award from the Sussex County Chamber of Commerce for its positive impact on county residents.
