Matching sellers with buyers
Rink opens space for new retail concept, By Cindy Weightman Stockholm Skylands Ice World is diversifying its business from ice alone to include retail. A new partnership with Vendor Finders could turn the facility located at 2765 Route 23 South here into one of the largest flea markets in North Jersey. Vendor Finders co-partner Sandy Mitchell says the mission of her start-up is to provide a platform for both vendors and venues to get together. She has 10 years experience on the vendor side of the business and her partner Mary-Ellen Renkel designs and makes jewelry. The two have teamed up to offer this new shopping experience to Sussex County and beyond starting with their grand opening on May 15. There’s room for 100 vendors inside and plenty of parking. The marketplace will open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and the team has plans for additional hours on Sundays and holidays once the idea catches on. Mitchell says that the concept provides vendors a convenient place to display and sell their original art, jewelry, fashion, woodwork, pottery, photography and more. There are also plans for a farmers market that would run from the summer to early fall. Renkel and Mitchell also envision Skylands becoming the venue for outdoor concerts and garage sales in late summer. Residents would be able to come in and set up their tables during such community-wide events.
