The Vernon Township Viking Marching Band, under the direction of Max Taylor, marched in the 249th St. Patrick’s Day Parade down Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue from 44th to 86th Street. The sun was shining, temperature was 65 degrees and the Viking Band played to an estimated crowd of 1.5 million on March 17. About 60 Vernon fans turned out to join the Viking marchers, who were part of some 150,000 paraders. The Vernon Viking Marching Band had an award winning 2009-2010 season, which will end with several appearances in Chicago and Cleveland during the last week of May, and the Vernon Township Memorial Day Parade.
